MIMOSA Handcrafted

Baton Rouge, LABrand · Retailer · Boutique

MIMOSA Handcrafted® began when Madeline Ellis pursued her life long love for making. She craved creating and making with her hands and found making jewelry satisfied that craving. After her day job as a landscape architect she'd make late into the night, on weekends and with ANY free moments in between. Soon the jewelry started piling up and her husband, Dawson (the entrepreneurially minded one ;) suggested selling it. MIMOSA was officially born in January 2008 with a LLC and a small tackle box full of jewelry made at the kitchen table. Madeline started selling jewelry at arts markets, festivals and pop-ups, in house holidays shows and anywhere they'd let her set up. She left landscape and took jewelry making to full time. Madeline's husband, Dawson ( @manmosahandcrafted ) joined full time. Where Madeline once used her creativity to design spaces for people to have experiences in, she now creates pieces for the wearer to have experiences with. Her pieces tell the story of everything from culture to history to landscape. Madeline is committed to creating pieces that bring you home to beauty and belonging and wearable art that invites you into conversations worth having. Today MIMOSA is a full on team. After years of experimenting with everything from ceramic jewelry, glass beads and enamel we have settled in on the ancient art of Lost Wax Casting as our main form of creating our work. We cast in bronze, sterling silver and 14k gold. Every step of the process is done in-house in our South Louisiana studio. We believe we are given to give and that goods purchased with us should be good paid forward. We believe in the power of connection and the importance of telling your story. We are constantly striving to learn and grow and send our best work into the world and we have fun while we do it. We have huge hearts and hard working hands and we hope you feel both in our work!
