Block Shop is a Los Angeles-based textile and design studio founded by the Stockman sisters in 2013 as an extension of their art practices into the lived environment. Their work begins with drawing and is shaped by a deep curiosity about art history, pattern, and the rich traditions of textile making. Known for their cult-favorite textiles, rugs, clothing, and objects, the sisters work in the spirit of 20th-century artist workshops. They collaborate with artists and craftspeople in India, Italy, Portugal, and the US to bring their drawings to life through block printing, weaving, screen printing, and embroidery. Block Shop celebrates the natural variations that are the hallmark of the human hand. Block Shop collaborations include LACMA, the Shakers, Heath Ceramics, Rachel Comey, and Design Within Reach, and the studio has been featured in Vogue, T Magazine, the NYT, Architectural Digest, FT, Domino, and others.
