The Paper Peony

Downers Grove, ILBrand · Retailer · Gift shop

The Paper Peony is a small greeting card + paper goods studio located just outside of Chicago, Illinois. The majority of our cards are hand letterpressed in-house on vintage presses. We print on 100% cotton (tree free) cardstock providing the highest quality cards that have both visual and tactile quality. Each greeting card we design is touched by hand several times before it is sleeved and shipped out to you. Letterpress printing is a form of relief printing in which a raised surface or form is inked and then pressed into paper. Letterpress or movable type, is the oldest traditional printing method created by Johannes Gutenberg around 1430. My name is Jennifer Larkin and I am the designer and letterpress printer for The Paper Peony. You guessed it, my favorite flower is the peony and my home garden hosts several varieties. I grew up surrounded by handmade things so I'm not surprised that I found myself in an industry that allows me to work with my hands. I hand illustrate the majority of The Paper Peony card collection featuring a mix of pretty botanicals, whimsical typography and playful doodles. My cards are an extension of my lifestyle, my garden, my friendships and my children. I don't design just on trends - - I design cards that fit into your real life. My cards are honest, playful and just plain pretty. Thank you for visiting and supporting small creative businesses like mine. Jennifer Larkin, Founder
