The Mahjong Line

2018. Two mahjong players. Backgrounds in art history, finance, advertising, and jewelry design. An idea to design game pieces that were unlike anything out there. A healthy dose of determination (stubbornness?), the thrill of the chase, combined with a steep learning curve. A mahjong perfect storm. Between the two of us, we have been playing the game of mahjong for three decades. One (Annie) is better than the other (Kate). We unabashedly love innovation, original design and we celebrate color. When playing mahjong, the "experience" is just as meaningful to us as the game itself: the playlist, the cocktails poured, the setting, and most importantly, the people at the table. We want to contribute to these moments - giving people a reason to gather that goes beyond just the game. As mothers, our philanthropic efforts focus on children and we are committed to supporting charities that help support young people in need. With every move we make in the future, we keep three things in mind: live and learn, people are good and jokers are wild (but not to be used in a pair, of course).
