PetitFelts was founded in 2011 by Jocelyn Gayle Krodman, an artist residing and creating in the Hudson Valley. Having graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design, Jocelyn honed her skills with various materials, notably metal, until her artistic pursuits took a transformative turn when she discovered the art of needle felting, a process of sculpting wool with barbed needles.
What started with felted sculptures has grown into a full collection of handmade treasures. Today, PetitFelts offers wall hangings, fair-trade ornaments, and a playful line of ceramics. Each wall hanging and ceramic piece is crafted with care by Jocelyn in her Kingston, NY studio. Her felted sculptures are a true labor of love. From dyeing the wool, to sculpting each one-of-a-kind personality. Every step is done by hand with attention to detail. The same is true of her ceramics, which begin as her original sculptures. From there, she creates the plaster molds by hand, slip casts, hand paints and glazes each piece. Everything is fired in-house.
The fair trade ornament collection features Jocelyn's original designs, handcrafted by artisan partners at a certified fair trade factory in Nepal - supporting sustainable practices and economic empowerment with every piece.
Beyond creating, Jocelyn is passionate about teaching the art of needle felting through workshops both online and in person.
PetitFelts has been featured in New York Magazine, Frankie Magazine, and Bon Appetit, and Jocelyn received the prestigious 2015 American Craft Council Emerging Artist Award.
From tiny felted sardines to hand-painted ceramic trays, every PetitFelts piece is designed to make life a little more fun.
