Peyote Bird Designs
Santa Fe, NMBrand · Retailer · Jewelry store
Founded in 1974 and based in Santa Fe, New Mexico, Peyote Bird Designs is a family-run jewelry house rooted in craftsmanship, heritage, and enduring style.
The brand was established by Mark Alexander when he began trading in Santo Domingo heishi and Navajo silverwork during a college road trip through the American Southwest. In the early years, Mark and his wife Martha traveled coast to coast in their well-worn Volkswagen Bug, sharing handcrafted jewelry and building relationships one piece at a time. What began as a passion for traditional artistry gradually evolved into Peyote Bird’s own in-house collections—defined by forward thinking design, quality, integrity, and a deep respect for the craft.
Today, Peyote Bird is led by Mark and Martha’s daughter, Amanda Alexander, and remains proudly family owned. As the company has grown, so has its commitment to thoughtful stewardship. Peyote Bird now supports a global community of skilled artisans, designers, and employees, working collaboratively to create jewelry that feels both timeless and deeply personal.
We specialize in top-quality semi-precious materials including turquoise, coral, spiny oyster shell, and other classic stones of the Southwest. Our collections span beaded jewelry, silversmithing, and inlay work, alongside vintage and one-of-a-kind artisan pieces. Each artist we represent brings a unique perspective, and we collaborate with every maker in a way that honors their individual voice and expertise.
At Peyote Bird, we believe true luxury lies in craftsmanship, authenticity, and longevity. Every piece is handmade with intention—designed to be worn, collected, and passed down from one generation to the next. Our aesthetic balances timeless design with a thoughtful awareness of the present, creating jewelry that endures beyond trends.
Thank you for your interest in Peyote Bird Designs. We look forward to sharing our work with you.
