From South Africa to the World Beginning in 1997 Charlotte du Toit first established Outpost Original in New York City in 1997, designing products out of her NYC apartment that were manufactured in her home country of South Africa. This marked the beginning of a journey dedicated to blending authentic craftsmanship with timeless design. Timeless Design Meets Craftsmanship Crafting Luxury in Texas Since then, the company has evolved into a Texas-based manufacturing studio, where all furniture, pillows, throws, and most accessories are made in-house. This hands-on approach ensures optimal quality control, allowing us to provide high-end luxury items that meet the highest standards of craftsmanship. We collaborate extensively with designers on custom pieces for projects and create exclusive lines for major retailers in the United States. Empowering Artisans with Every Piece A Celebration of Art and Design Our work goes beyond creating beautiful pieces—it’s about building meaningful partnerships with artisans. By collaborating with skilled craftspeople, we preserve traditional techniques and support sustainable livelihoods. Each item we produce reflects the unique talents of these artisans, blending cultural heritage with contemporary design. Every Piece Tells a Story By Shopping with Us When you shop with us, you’re choosing more than just beautiful furniture and décor—you’re choosing to support small business and artisan communities. Your purchase empowers skilled craftspeople, sustains traditional techniques, and fuels our commitment to crafting sustainably sourced, custom-made furniture.
