modern-twist is a San Francisco Bay Area based company that has pioneered the use of pure food-grade, hand-silk screened silicone. "Bringing elegance to a new innovative material." Kat Nouri conceived of the idea for modern-twist from her deep belief in, what we eat on should be as pure and wholesome as what we eat. She found the company name by fashioning a "modern-twist"—innovating aesthetically inspiring home products that are made with pioneering materials which are safe for people and the planet. Kat's vision transpired thanks to her unique upbringing with a respect for organic farming and nutrition, her experience as a US manufacturer with a background in marketing and sales, and ultimately her innate sense for design.
In 2005, modern-twist was the first company to produce strikingly beautiful hand-silk screened products for the home. Kat believed in her quest for innovative, functional, sustainable based materials—and she found it in 100% pure based food grade silicone. Silicone is a man made polymer consisting of some of the most abundant resources on the planet such as sand and oxygen, and it is unmatched in its functional properties of heat and water resistance. At modern-twist we take great pride in partnering with suppliers that produce the finest silicone in the world—nonporous/germ free and without any latex, vinyl, or phthalates.
Every single product modern-twist manufactures is individually cured, and hand silk-screened. Making every single product unique. We are the only company producing pure based silicone in a fabric like material that is memory-free (will not crease) with and incredibly silky soft feel to the touch. Thus recognized internationally for having one of the most innovative products in the marketplace. Kat and the modern-twist team hope to continue to motivate others through good design and a sustainable out-of-the-box approach to producing products that are safe for people and the planet.
