For more than four decades, Harney & Sons has been a family tea company. Our founder, John Harney, came to tea through his mentor, Stanley Mason, the owner of Sarum Teas in Salisbury, Connecticut. As the managing partner of the town’s White Hart Inn, John served his own blends to guests long before they reached a wider audience. In 1983 he bought Sarum Teas and founded Harney & Sons, blending from his basement.
Today, Michael and Paul Harney carry on what their father built, with the third generation now part of the work. With a bottling plant, warehouse, two stores, and a thriving international e-commerce business, John’s passion lives on in his family.
