At the heart of Griff’s Toffee is a cherished family tradition that began in Chapel Hill, North Carolina—affectionately known as “The Southern Part of Heaven.”
For Mark Graves, his mom’s homemade toffee was always a special treat growing up. In 2006, after years of perfecting her secret recipe, Karen Graves turned her passion into a home-based business. With the love and support of her husband, Griff, Chapel Hill Toffee made its debut at A Southern Season, a beloved local specialty foods market.
In 2008, as the financial crisis reshaped careers across the country, Mark’s path in banking came to an unexpected halt. Inspired by his mother’s growing business, he joined her in the kitchen to help take things to the next level. Soon after, his wife Christy Graves came on board to lead sales and marketing. Karen’s oldest son, Scott, joined in 2015 to oversee distribution.
Karen’s husband, Griff Graves, was the first and biggest fan of the toffee and, after his unexpected passing, Griff’s Toffee was launched as the national brand of KLG Candies, LLC to honor his memory and all of the support he provided in getting the family business off the ground.
In 2024, Griff's niece (and Mark & Scott's cousin) Morgan Clark joined the family business to help with growth & operations. Though our toffee is now enjoyed across the country, every batch is still handcrafted in Chapel Hill, where it all began. We remain committed to quality, tradition, and community.
In memory of Christy’s mother and Mark’s mother-in-law, Dina Bray, we proudly donate a portion of every box sold to Dina’s Dynasty Ovarian Cancer Fund —supporting research and awareness for a cause close to our hearts.
