Erika Christine Ceramics
Brand · Ceramics
Erika is a ceramic artist currently living in Lawrence, Kansas. Her ceramic practice involves various making techniques including the potters wheel, hand-building, and making her own plaster molds. Each piece is made by hand, and re-imagines domestic objects. The work seeks to explore the intimate nature of utility and beauty, and what it can reveal about ourselves. The hand painted surfaces and hand altered forms create a tactile narrative, drawing inspiration from the history of craft and its ties to class, gender, and nature. Her work joins the decorative and functional, and invites contemplation of household objects, encouraging a deeper connection to the items we use daily.
Erika studied ceramics at the Kansas City Art Institute, and has been a resident artist at the International Ceramics Studio in Kecskemet, Hungary.
