The Brass Hand is an independent home decor, plant, art & fragrance company founded by Heather McCloud in Columbus, Ohio. Inspired by Heather’s roots in Arizona, the shop has been built around a love for warmth, color, texture, scent, desert landscapes, vintage objects, and creating spaces that make people feel connected and inspired.
What began as an Instagram shop in 2020 quickly grew through community support and word of mouth, leading to the opening of our brick-and-mortar storefront in Clintonville in 2021. Known for our immersive retail experience with the Plant Charm Bar housed within our interactive Potting Room Experience- guests can pot their own plants with charms and adornments, and engage creatively with the space in a hands-on way.
Today, we operate both our Clintonville storefront and a dedicated production warehouse and creative studio in Grandview Heights. We remain deeply community-centered, regularly supporting local grassroots and mutual aid efforts, with 1% of profits donated to organizations serving unhoused neighbors, immigrant communities, and vulnerable local residents throughout Central Ohio.
Brass Earth was born inside The Brass Hand as a small in-house incense collection inspired by Heather's memories and personal rituals. The fragrances draw from desert highways, roadside motels, tenderness, grief, nostalgia, and the emotional texture of ordinary life.
What started as a small offering for local customers has since grown into a nationally carried fragrance line, with Brass Earth incense now stocked in boutiques in 40+ states nationwide. Every Brass Earth product is still developed in-house and produced in small batches from our Grandview Heights creative studio.
