Barrier Islands Salt began as a labor of love by founders Anna and Dave, inspired by the pristine waters and untamed beauty of Virginia’s Eastern Shore. After moving to the area, Dave and Anna set out to capture the essence of the Virginia Coast Reserve, a 130,000-acre expanse of protected Atlantic waters, uninhabited barrier islands, and marshes, through centuries-old, artisan salt-making techniques. After years of learning, experimentation, and countless small batches, they perfected a process that reflects both the purity of the water and their deep respect for this extraordinary place.
