Baleen

Seattle, WABrand · Retailer · Jewelry store

Hello! We're Billy and Leah, owners and designers of Baleen. We're a couple who shares a passion for well-designed, thoughtful and beautiful objects. We decided to start Baleen because we believe quality, handmade jewelry can be affordable and responsible. Our Story We met in 2008 while working together at a retail shop in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle. After a short time we became good friends and eventually realized just how much we liked each other. We've been together since and couldn't imagine not working together everyday. We started Baleen in 2013 because we saw something missing. Quality jewelry that is handmade in the United States that is also affordable and fashion-forward. Baleen is all of those things as well as a combination of our passions and talents. Leah's background is in apparel design and styling - she loves clothing and accessories and is extremely aesthetically focused. Billy is a trained Graphic Designer and Jeweler and loves making physical, functional objects with his hands. In 2015 we opened our first brick and mortar shop in the Ballard neighborhood, our favorite area of Seattle. The shop space was split in two and one half was our first production studio - now our packaging, inventory and shipping headquarters. In Oct 2018 we moved our production studio to a larger space nearby, so we can continue to grow and thrive. We keep almost everything made in-house and have a super talented staff who we consider family helping us with our production and retail sales. We hope you enjoy what you see, and that you'll come back and visit us from time to time to see what's happening. New pieces will frequently be introduced to the line to keep things fresh and lively, and our prices will always be easy on your pocketbook. xo, Leah and Billy
