Andrew Joseph White (he/him) grew up in Virginia and began writing before he could actually write, offering scribbled paper to his parents with demands that they read the illegible nonsense back to him. After drafting several novels in middle and high school, he attended George Mason University for his bachelor's and master's in creative writing.
He is the author of three New York Times bestselling horror novels for teens and young adults: Hell Followed With Us (a William C. Morris Debut Award Finalist), The Spirit Bares Its Teeth (a 2024 Stonewall Honor), and Compound Fracture (a 2025 Printz Honor). His work focuses on the intersection of transgender and autistic identity through the lens of horror, monstrosity, violence, and rage. His publications also include his adult debut, You Weren't Meant to Be Human (2025), and two upcoming YA novels, You're No Better (2026) and Beast//Warden (2028).
Andrew has settled just outside of Washington, D.C. with his wife, their cat Poppy, and a library's worth of books.
