My name is Dani, and I am the woman behind Amber & Oak.
In 2020, I fell in love with blending fragrances and playing with olfactory memory, the connection between scent and memories. Every candle starts as a story, scribbled in my leatherbound notebook with tea-stained pages. I spend a lot of time testing different fragrance combinations in my home studio and I find that one of the most exciting parts about the craft is finding the perfect blend to spark each candle's unique feel. I enjoy evoking nostalgia with aromas and creating a little escape from reality for the customer.
In my personal life, I try to live more on the holistic side, connected to nature and its healing power. I find that candles are a helpful aromatherapy tool for my anxiety that can uplift my mood, increase my focus, and even serve as a reminder to slow down and practice self care. Big box store brands always gave me headaches, so I chose to use natural wax & clean fragrances for a less overpowering scent in the home.
My inspiration stems from simpler times, childhood memories, nature, and literature. If I feel uninspired, a quiet walk in the woods or a trip to the bookstore can always be the cure.
Connecting with my customers is truly such a magical part of running a small business, I love seeing my creations in your photos, and hearing what you think of them. Thank you for shopping small, and happy sniffing :)
