Hi! My name is Abigail Herron. I’m a digital artist and queer feminist that creates colorful illustrations about self-love, body positivity, and our connection with nature. I use drawing software to create vibrant illustrations of the human figure and nature. My style and its fantasy elements are heavily influenced by my deep love of animated media. The expressive characters and beautiful visuals are something I’ve always been captivated by, and it’s what inspired me to fill sketchbooks as a child. Over time, my themes became a response to the world I was entering as an adult. I developed a stark awareness of the structural injustices woven into our society, and wanted to make art that challenges harmful rhetoric with messages of acceptance. The way forward lies in our ability to practice empathy, respect, and appreciation for each other; which I express by including positive representation of different people and bodies. By accepting others, I believe it’s also helping me to accept myself. In the chaos of modern life, the gentle, healing energy and vitality of plants have become a comfort. Our planet is so diverse, and yet, we all share the same origins. We too have come from the earth, even if we’re losing sight of that. Being reminded of this grounds me, and gives me a sense of connection amidst the division and isolation. Combined, nudity is a way I convey these ideas in my art. It’s who we are in our most natural state; beautiful in our vulnerability and willingness to be seen as we are. Ultimately, my goal is to help make the future a softer and kinder place to be. I plan to attend and apply to more in-person events, so that I can share this hope with kindred spirits in welcoming spaces. When I’m not drawing, you can find me hanging out with my partner and our feline fur babies, watching animated shows, and playing video games.
