Heidi is an artist from Seattle, Washington, who currently lives on Vashon Island, WA. She attended the San Francisco Art Institute where she received her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2002. She has been a ceramicist since 2012. H.A. Studio features all original artwork and prints created by Heidi Anderson. With over 15 years of experience as a ceramicist, she sells her work at Pike Place Market in Seattle and through her online shop. My work draws from fine art, folk art, and handmade traditions, evolving into what I see as modern folk art. I connect with the Museum of International Folk Art's definition: "of, by, and for the people; all people, inclusive of class, status, culture, community, ethnicity, gender, and religion." My Protector figures are spirit beings celebrating our relationship with nature, uniting the animal and spiritual, earthly and mystical. They feature personally meaningful yet universal symbols: leaves, flowers, birds, rainbows, mountains, water, triangles, and abstract lines, drawing from ancient symbols to bring spiritual expression into daily life.
