Hi! I’m Nicole. I’m the printmaker behind the presses at radical emprints. tshirt by Transfigure Print Co The goal of my printmaking is to nourish organizers with fierce, beautiful words that keep them invested in movement work for the long haul. I write, typeset, and letterpress print reminders, calls to action, bits of insight, reflections, demands, groundings, missives on grief—the poetry of organizing. Read an interview I did about my work in 2023 with Anna Brones of the Creative Fuel Collective. I’m a queer letterpress printer, poet, and art worker living in unceded Wabanaki territory / Portland, Maine. I started to learn about letterpress printing and grassroots organizing in 2012, and spent nine years as a member-leader at the Southern Maine Workers’ Center. I joined the community printshop Pickwick Independent Press in 2016, where I found my life’s work at the intersection of printmaking and organizing. In 2023 I launched Lead & Roses: Cards for Organizers, and I continue printing for collective liberation in as many ways as I can. I’m also a facilitator with Resource Organizing Project. I am deeply grateful to get to print most of my work on a Vandercook 4 at Pickwick Independent Press. In 2023, I acquired my own Heidelberg Windmill, which allowed me to start offering wholesale! Since I started printing in 2012, I have had a practice of redistributing a portion of my printmaking income through fundraising prints and as sustaining donations to movement organizations, mutual aid projects, & bail funds. Check out the work that I currently support.
